Hambletonian & Oaks
« on: July 22, 2025, 01:03:27 PM »
21 Horses have been entered for the Hambletonian and 23 for the Oaks resulting in 3 eliminations for each. Top 3 finishers + 4th place finisher with highest earnings advance. Post position draw will be later this afternoon.

Think Go Dog Go and Super Chapter are a cut above but you could really talk me into 5-7 with legitimate shots.  Group is super strong and competitive.

Think the fillies are kind of weaker this year with no real standout (that is eligible).  Might be one you get a price on - kind of like R Lady W for what will likely be a moon shot.  Zeron has taken it very easy on her - and she seems very eradict but shows sever sub 27 closers

Way to go

Emoticon Legacy and Super Chapter are the obvious ones this weekend--probably odds of 1/5 on each in their respective elims

I am looking for Ake to have one wake up and get ready for next Sat

I think you will get close to even money on both.  Or I could be way off.  I guess we will see.

Maryland is in with Go Dog Go. If he wins his elimination, it will be interesting to see if Dexter stays with him or drives Super Chapter in the finals. Most people think he'll stay with Super Chapter, I'm not so sure about that.

I’m not sure winning the elim will be the decider.  He’s not going to gut either one to make the finals.  Post draw in the final could play a factor or which one felt the best in the elims.  I feel like Super Chapter and EL are the best right now, with GDG improving every start.

The first division is a give away for EL. The second division is a give away for SC. The third division is the toughest by far GDG Maryland will be the favorites but don’t sleep on Landing On Time and The Rogue Prince. The division are made up by money won to equal out the competition but it clearly didn’t work this year.

I could be off

both are undefeated and Super Chapter went off 1/9 last week

Emoticon looks clearly above his elim foes

Looked at the Elims and I am way off.  No chance super chapter or emoticon legacy go off even money.  May not be 1/9 but will be close.  I have my doubts that Maryland will even hit the board in the final, if he makes it.

Monserrate has been sharpening steadily and put in a good race last out vs. Super Chapter.  Let's see how he races this week against EL; could be value and, of course, HOFer David Miller has won every race of note across the country except for the Hambo!!

He did cross the finish line first in the 2017 Hambletonian with What the Hill but was DQ'd.

Like him or not, think he's a cheater or not, bad driver or not, when they don't look like contenders...that is when you have to give Svanstedt's horses a second look. His primary goal, if not exclusive, is two-fold. Make the final, and peak in the final. That's what he does.
