Knox County Fair Demo Derby
« on: July 09, 2025, 06:38:59 PM »
I wasn't going to post this to the forum because it's a fair and shit happens. Until this Jamaica Patton guy called one of the women on my group page the C word for saying he should have been going forward and not grabbing making it impossible to unhook. Nobody is yelling, the guys behind them CLUELESS and not paying attention. Amazingly nobody got hurt.

The announcer was pretty damn good he announced it immediately upon it happening, they either didn't hear him or were not focused.

He (the announcer) should of repeated and offered some advice in that few following seconds.

But all ok, to be grateful for!   tmbz1

A race caller should not have to offer advice to drivers on how to unlock their wheels. The 2 horses coming from the back and rear ending the two with locked wheels was unbelievable. How come they didnt pull up or steer out of the way? One of those drivers has the last name of Delong so probably related to John Delong from Hoosier. Never seen that before. This was in Illinois  I believe.

You ever drive a race? First of all, if you need guidance from voices above you shouldn't be out there. Rarely is anyone listening for or able to hear an announcer. See those two things behind their glasses? Theyr'e called eyes and should be aware of what is or isn't in front of them. As for the two locked up, if your wheel is in front,  you go FORWARD not GRAB. And there's literally no excuse for anyone plowing through them. Zero.
If you've got a problem with me, you're GUILTY.

The announcer did a call it out and IMO he may be the best in the country. It’s Kurt Becker who is the announcer at Keenlelandas well as calls the Kentucky Derby on the radio broadcast as well as NASCAR racing.  He is literally one of not the best around

Jesse Delong had no control over his breaking horse and plowed right into them.  He’s the fucking idiot and shouldn’t be out there if that’s the best he can do.  Was he even looking forward?  You wouldn’t just plow your car into the back of two cars that are going slower would you?

As Mike said, it's very difficult to hear the announcer when on the track driving. There's a lot of noise out there. Guys are hooting and hollering, the bikes make noise, the horse banging off your helmet behind you sounds like a fat woman trying to run up a hill.

You never ever stop paying attention when on the track. Hooked wheels happen all the time. 99% know how to get out of the situation without missing a beat.
