Is there a better half mile 3 year old trotter in the USA?

There has to be a reason they won't let Ahle grab him, maybe choking or breathing. If you noticed his last 1/4s are getting slower. But Either way he's way better than these.

why would you want Ahle "grabbing him"?--curious as to why you think that is a good idea

he is not runaway speed--just about 20 lengths better than the MDSS horses right now

just because he opens up double digit leads doesn't necessarily suggest he is "out of control" or "unrate-able"

Definitely isn’t a runaway.  My concern would be his last quarter being so slow if he ever faces real, stakes level competition.

it is difficult to judge a horse by his last quarter. when you are 3-4 seconds faster than the competiton..but many obsess over it

Ahle hasn't asked him for any speed all year so its hard to tell how much is in the tank

when you are up 10-20 lengths obviously there is no need to push him-so I don't understand what his final quarter has to do with anything

Agree to a certain extent.  Just not a fan of having a horse get used to lazy last quarters.  But agree no need to push him for no reason.

Super Chapter ran 2/5 off the Hambo stakes record, 3/5's and he'd beat it.  Bad post and Monserrate good post, well it's a race then.

unless Super Chapter gets beat in his Hambo elim-he wont draw a bad post-and he will probably be 1/5 in his elim since they "seed" the horses in the elims

most likely Maryland will be seeded in the other elim and it wont be a coincidence

Maryland has been pushed to the brink in her last two races, should be interesting if she either busts out of it or is a bust out.

She can't beat horses that can't seemingly beat Super Chapter. 

Let's call the last 2 races vigorous exercise.

when a trotter has a 15-20 length lead and the driver is sitting motionless and never asking for any speed--why would anyone stare at the final quarter and obsess over it? To me, the final quarter in these situations is completely meaningless and has NO indication about "how much is left in the tank"

we can have a difference of opinion--thats perfectly fine and why horse racing is great

Including daiquiri hanover (breeders crown elim winner who recently sold for 90 something thousand). Why are they rolling him at ocean? I dont know but I also dont think he is a runaway who can only beat slow rats.

last nights purse was $95k and later in the fall there will be another final for about the same purse where he will be 1/9 again

I didnt watch the replay but did Ahle take him wide entering the far turn?  There may have been geese or birds on the track?  Or I may be totally imagining it as I was 1/2 asleep.

it appears to me Ahle is intentionally playing the turns safely and going wide on all four of them

Why would he take the turns tightly? Think we all know tight turns are  hard on a horse.
Have you seen the drivers at ocean downs?? Play it safe and stay clear!
