Protests on Saturday
« on: June 12, 2025, 09:37:49 PM »
From what i've read, there will be about 1800 protests throughout our country protesting President Trump's policies. As long as the protests are peaceful, I support the right to protest. But if looting, burning cars, assaulting police officers occur, I hope the perpetrators are arrested and sent to prison.

Agreed!  Let's hope they are ALL peaceful!

IMO, the last thing this country needs is another version of a 1/6/21 "INSURRECTION' when many bad things happened.  FYI, many of the right-wing will not acknowledge what happened on 1-6-21!  What a bunch of SAD INDIVIDUALS these people are.  Hypothetically speaking, if damage and other bad things occur, can/should the next democratic president pardon these individuals?  Is 'KARMA' a "BITCH" if this occurs?!
Draw your own inferences!

I have seen the map of where they're supposedly planned and one is supposed to be about 20 minutes away from me. I won't be going anywhere near that area or any area where they're supposed to be.

6/6/25 to 6/13/25 has seen 100x the damage and "bad things" happen than occurred 1/6/21.

Rainman2, why don't you explain how this ongoing, more than a week old episode, hasn't produced more chaos and damage than the January episode?

Or, just call me a troll and leave it at that because you really have nothing to back up your moronic, repetitive posts.

Let's start with :

🔥 Physical Damage & Vandalism
Rioters set fire to at least five Waymo self-driving cars, each worth approximately $150,000, resulting in burning lithium-ion batteries and toxic fumes.
Numerous vehicles, including police cars, were damaged during freeway blockages and clashes.
Storefronts and public buildings—including the LAPD headquarters, U.S. Courthouse, and LA Times building—had windows shattered, graffiti, and broken fixtures.

💥 Infrastructure & Business Impact
Protesters blocked the 101 Freeway and other major roads, halting traffic for hours and requiring police intervention.
Downtown businesses experienced widespread looting, broken glass, and graffiti, with night-time vandalism causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage in a single evening.
Service disruptions included closed or modified hours for retail chains and ride-share services, further impacting economic activity.

🚓 Law Enforcement & Public Safety Costs
Police used tear gas, rubber bullets, pepper balls, and flash-bangs while managing the crowds.
Two officers were injured—one struck by a motorcycle in a breach attempt—while protesters reportedly threw fireworks, rocks, concrete, and bottles.
The FBI announced a $50,000 reward for information on a masked protester assaulting a federal officer, pointing to serious instances of violence.

💰 Economic Ripple Effects
Though total damage estimates are still being compiled, the recent events could result in hundreds of millions of dollars in claims, especially when compared to past civil unrest in the U.S.
Emergency response operations—including troop deployment and crowd control—strain public resources and may require additional budgeting.

The full financial toll is still unfolding, but early signs indicate substantial financial losses, extensive property damage, and lingering economic disruption.

Good evening,

Here is your polite answer.

IMO, first, let's start with the "INSURRECTION"!  This was an event that shouldn't have unfolded because of political issues in the USA today.  Bottom line-people died, property damage, and democracy tainted as a result of this! Trump should have never said 'fight like hell'!  Unfortunately, the Trump crowd made a different decision, and you see the results of this in the annals of history.  This cannot be changed because people won't accept what happened.

Now the riot:  IMO, another event that shouldn't have occurred, but currently on-going.  In what is going on today you have a different group of people who cannot handle the way the immigration issue and they are dealing with this in a way that shouldn't be done.  The "INSURRECTIONISTS" did the same thing.  Both groups were/are WRONG in their approach to the issues.  SAD BUT TRUE!  The political rift between Trump and Newsome only causes more problems in dealing with what is currently happening.  Both Trump and Newsome cannot/will not meet in the middle on this because of politics.  This is the bottom line.  And because of this, this will run its course and will the issues at hand will never be dealt with where both sides are happy?  Probably not!  This is what it is, and you cannot change this in the annals of history and with political, financial damage, et al.

From darnoldrocks---Or, just call me a troll and leave it at that because you really have nothing to back up your moronic, repetitive posts.

My response:  Take a good long hard look in the mirror at yourself and look at all your "moronic" and 'repetitive' posts!

Questions regarding the " insurrection ".

Why did Biden pardon the January 6th committee, especially since none of them was charged with a crime?

Why did the January 6th committee destroy most of the evidence involved making it almost impossible for most charged to get a fair trial?

Meanwhile, Trump is ready to roll back the deportations because ICE is going to farms and processing plants and removing most of their workers.  Just another case of Trump doing things before thinking them through.
No wonder he’s called TACO.

Good afternoon,

Here are your answers per request.

1.  The pardon. And the answer is:  to solve all the problems of having a hard core right wing ‘follower’ from wasting time, effort, and money (aka a “WITCH HUNT” by throwing anything against the wall and hoping something ‘sticks’!

2.  Did the 1/6 committee as you say “destroy” any/all information?  Which news sources confirmed this if any?

3.  “FAIR TRIALS”?  FYI, there is plenty of footage (both video and pictorial) of what actually happened. Everyone that was associated with a crime was processed by a group of their piers and/or judges. FYI, the judges were appointed by the POTUS at that time. They were all sentenced accordingly according to the law!!

Some people casually strolled into the capital building and did not do any damage and calmly strolled out, some escorted by police.

Do you see any burning cars or looting going on in that video?

Good evening,

Aren't people supposed to respect law and order, and shouldn't their parents teach them better on what is right/wrong in life!

Unfortunately, being in the wrong place and at the wrong time can have serious consequences.  They shouldn't have strolled into the building, PERIOD! Everyone had had an opportunity to 'lawyer up' and take care of their own business in dealing with their trials.  They were found guilty of their 'crimes'.  If they didn't get good enough lawyers, they have nobody to blame but themselves.  Each individual was dealt with legally in a court of law.

For the most parts, the protests were peaceful with very few issues. A handful got arrested, but that was to be expected. The protests, which allowed people to voice their opinions is a great American privilege.
