I'm not siding with anybody, but the track did make the announcement regarding the mandatory payoff 4 or 5 days in advance.
Their thinking was obviously, it's a holiday so more people will have off but some people still have to work on holidays. I still don't think Randy has anything to do with it. Obviously the track's only goal is to have the largest pool possible, and you're never going to please everybody.
Maybe he doesn't want to say anything negative about the people who sign his paycheck.
It's like these homer broadcasters for sports teams, they rarely if ever say anything negative about a player or the team unless it's totally called for. They don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers, it's also called job security.
I heard him the other night talking about a trotter that Scott Youngie was on. He said he was going to the Hambo and was in NW1. 8/5 when the gate was rolling and went off 1/9…. WOW…I was totally bewildered first how he said he was Hambo material and second that somebody actually listened to him. He got BEAT in 55.4. Sure what a prospect was he.
Do you think its possible that when they did the mandatory payout on a Holiday, they thought maybe it would bring in more revenue? Idk the answer, but it seems like someone thought it was a great idea.
too bad they didnt put mandatory on the cup race only a 10 horse field but so many possibilities
