As someone who lives in Maine, I can honestly say say harness racing is pretty sad here. We've been hearing about a "new track" here in southern Maine since Scarborough Downs closed. in my opinion. it will always be "Fair" races for now on. At least the caramel apples and sausage and peppers are great at the Fryeburg Fair.

correct dougie.  cumberlands management crew was waiting on sports betting. then historical race machines. i suppose now they will build a new track if they get a casino license. they opened a sports bar in portland quite fast though.  right now almost all handle is off track and at 2 percent not generating much revenue.    fair time coming soon.

Fair races are always more fun. I used to love when the Westchester County fair was at YR. good food.

Rumor is that Cumberland is cutting ties with the west coast boys and build a new Grandstand and Paddock at Cumberland and call it a new track ?

Another rumor is that 2 private investors who have strong harness ties are getting involved with helping the financing and making Cumberland into a 5/8th mile track. The names mentioned have deep, deep pockets

Racetime.....Lock ed in with pace.....we hear so many rumors concerning investors and hope they are true. I think a nice small track directly off I95 (Maine Turnpike) would be great. They have been talking about a track in Saco and Sanford Maine.
