Preakness Thread
« on: May 17, 2025, 10:38:12 AM »
I thought someone should start a thread on this. Post anything about the race, the card or Pimlico itself or any bets..I'll start. In the Preakness I like #8 Clever Again to win and will use #1 Goal Oriented the Baffert horse, #2 Journalism and #6 River Thames underneath. Clever Again could very well wire the field and is rested. Baffert is always dangerous in the Preakness. River Thames just lost to the Derby winner at Gulfstream and the combo of Pletcher and Irad is deadly. Journalism was my pick in the Derby, but only 2 weeks off and his running style will hamper him, but he should still be in the top 4.The track is rated as good, but looks decent compared to how it did last night. My first bet is..

Pick 5: 1,5,/8,9,11/1,3,5,7/6/3,7,9,11 $48.00 total.
Good Luck to all!!

I've been going back and forth in my handicapping and thnk I finally landed on #9 Gosger. He has good tactical speed and could lay 4th or 5th while the speed leaves quickly. There's little doubt that the #1 Goal Oriented and #8 Clever Again will be out on the front early. I also think #3 American Promise will also be in the early mix. If Gosger can get the jump on a closing #2 Journalism, it might be a cold 9-2 exacta. Good luck to everyone today!!!!!

race 14--Arabian race--#9 Diamond Gem is a beast

the top Arabian in North America--11 starts--8 wins, 2 places, 1 show

expect odds of 3/5 or less.

He is more of a mid pack runner or would prefer to be and the Preakness is often won by front runners. He might not be able to close as well from 4th or 5th seeing as he raced 2 weeks ago

no worries

I just don't think he running style will hurt him as several speeds should be setting a contentious pace and he should be in a perfect spot

In race 4   If anticipated wicked speed dual develops, as it should. Going with #7  Flavian to get the trip

#7 ran big speed duel never happened due to #5
