What do you expect the Hambletonian Society to do? Meadowlands is lucky to have 20,000 on track for the Hambo these days. The Kentucky Derby is an event like no other.

I would think the budgets are way, way different. Derby telecast spares no expense. The Hambletonian is lucky to get on TV. The crew does a good job in my opinion. It is unfair to compare them.

A veteran horseman told me that the Society's objective was to get paid. There are many in it that do little & earn a good salary. I'm not sure what their purpose is. When the sport was flourishing it could be absorbed. If the fees ( near a million) for the Breeders Crown are true they are draining the sport.

the hambo should be raced at the red mile in state were the governor supports the industry, nothing against the big m but Kentucky is pro horse racing

The amount of money Churchill Downs makes on Derby Day is unbelievable. For starters, General Admission is $160, then whatever it costs to park, concessions, private suites and boxes, dining rooms, etc.

Love it when kindergarteners wonder what is that old white bearded man doin. the others were dressed in fatique unies as they in NATIONAL GUARD. Then went to CARPENTERSVILLE park to VETERANS MEMORIAL,for there service and was up for picture takig with 14 other vets. It was a tie between me and one other guy as to who was the oldest VET. Then went to VFW and thepread. Had some chow and a coke. No complaints on day so far. But: IT ain't over till its over.
