Not Just Losing Tracks, You're Losing States
« on: May 01, 2025, 09:16:30 AM »
And that's a frightening proposition. I'm reading people say, yeah we lost a track, but also gained a new one here or there. Yet you're losing entire states, their sub industries and programs. California, Florida, Michigan, New Jersey hanging by a thread and others not far behind with a public referendum once people see the money is literally going to waste on a dead industry. Maybe the USTA can start saving money by not wining and dining directors who are in charge of districts with no harness racing. When do the meets start in  Hawaii or Alaska?  ngc3
Now the question is, just how far do I want to go with this???

Negative? Try realistic. I don't see anyone doing a damn thing to stop the spiral into oblivion. Most tracks are one welfare check away from closing. Got any ideas???

The sport has lost Florida, CA, & Illinois. They all had a following & some of the better handles. Michigan was killed off too. The downward spiral will continue. It is time to face the facts...which is Harness racing no longer matters. It has a really small following. It's following shrinks every year. Many die off & others lose interest. There are only a few newbies to offset this.

He's realistic!
You do realize without welfare all these buggy tracks would be closed right?

It's a dead game look at how many tracks have closed in the last 40 years and how many new tracks have opened ?

Count how many of those new tracks were opened on the back of casino/racino revenue and tracks that would have closed had they not been bailed by that revenue. Remember even Yonkers was in contract to be sold before the VLT law was passed. Thank God for welfare!!!
