Racing has always been corrupt from the top down.

Not even corrupt anymore, just embarrassing.

Nah, too many politicians are already taking the major pieces of the pie. Only reason any state would earmark a dollar into this horse killing shit show that loses money every day to employ dropouts and illegal aliens.

They are all prominent businessmen that have been successful in the horse business. They’re not hiding between two dumpsters videotaping horses. By the way, when are you gonna get a job?

I see you have no background in economics. There are some wonderful buying opportunities out there but I think that's above your pay grade.

I see your point of view. I agree with most of it.

As I said, I'd like to see more business acumen, savvy, and "horsepower" (no pun intended). There are many brilliant businessmen/women in the industry. Tap them as a resource.

I agree with you. I was watching some of the thoroughbred races today the grand stands were packed when I go to the track the trotters are empty. We need a group of men and women that are business minded as well as creative.

We have so many positive people involved in sport and then you have the losers that do nothing but spread bad news this doesn't help.

We need a major attraction to bring people to the track also the race paddock should be open to the public where people can get a one on one relationship with the trainers drivers and horses as well as the grooms.

If Monticello raceway had a rock concert and spent a little money could you imagine the people that would attract and some of those people would actually bet on the horses.

It's obvious the sport and the industry is in trouble. It will be the proverbial "it will get worse before it gets better" so to speak. However, there is plenty of talented people who can play a role in the getting better. While I always said Gulfstream Park was like the track of the future, even it's viability is now in question vis a vis highest and best use, and it now appears Stronach is no supporter of the sport and racing unless she gets what she wants. It will end up like other tracks, more money into non-racing, and less money into racing.

Good point! If I was advising Mr. Gural I will offer a suggestion to say something like,  hey why don’t we have a rock concert or two this summer and see what happens.

  • Trigger: Very good analysis Calhoun, moreso from my perspective that Albin Jimenez was suspended and the #2 ride was really suspicious and overooked.  Is it possible that there is action equal to far greater outside mutual pools worldwide?

  • Calhoun: That tri pool was $4500. Net of takeout $3300.  Out of 60 possible outcomes, the result was  5th most likely out of 60 (using win odds to calc). Paid 14 to 1. Doesn't seem awful. It also would have been bet pretty good by the genpop. Maybe rigged for the 3 to win but the tri? I think not too likely.

  • Trigger: The race that everyone is talking about where Jimenez #1 stiffs his horse to finish behind the #3 his gf, but no one mentions the #2 (Lebron) and how he stiffed to be behind Jimenez.  To set up the 312 tri watch the stretch. [link]
