how can a horse be scratched and yet race for purse money?

At Gulfstream No. 5 race, the No. 2 was scratched for parimutuel purposes but allowed to run for purse money. Now what happens if that horse interferes with a horse I got money on? Never heard of this.

???  He would never be placed for parimutuel purposes.  For purse purposes claim foul all you want.

you obviously don't watch a lot of races

in NY--the still have coupled wagering(1 &1A)--if one of them is a gate scratch-the other one is allowed to run for purse money only

this happens many times throughout the year
