Cancelled again today (Wednesday, 3/12).  May as well call off Thursday as well and see if you can get the track put together by next week. On a positive note, the horses are getting some well-deserved rest!!!

They need a high-level track builder/conditioner to get the track surface right. This problem can be long term if not fixed properly.

I think I saw Howard Oil selling Girl Scout cookies outside of Tilly’s. He can make some money and spend time with his date.

Today's Monti update......"Once again, due to track conditions Monticello Raceway has cancelled live racing on Thursday (March 13)."

We will resume racing once the track conditions allow - sometime by mid-summer.  ngc3

Maybe this is the beginning of the end.

So, can Empire Resorts simply close the track? I remember reading something when the casino finally opened and within a year or so they closed the slots part of the track. The slots part of the track fell under the state regulation dealing with slots at racetracks-----but that's gone, so now what? Can they simply close the track?

They would have to shut down the Newburgh casino.

What does that contract look like?

How many cards does Monticello need to run?

Any link to details appreciated.

At the very least the horses get some rest! Those poor animals get abused year round. The only time they get a break is to break down or die.

This was a huge financial burden to the horsemen. Curious if they bump purses to make up for the purse money they didn't spend.

  • Bitter Truth: That Golden Tempo , I'm afraid is  a money burner. Gets so far back. Was in range but just hung and raced even in the stretch. Didn't see a Derby winner in there in my opinion.
