Why should the income from those unrelated products subsidize racing?

They would be great. A return to racing four nights a week would help the sport.

If the Meadowlands had ownership or business agreements with ownership, then it wouldn't be subsidies. It's called business.

If the Meadowlands had ownership or business agreements with ownership, then it wouldn't be subsidies. It's called business.

So you want different owners for slots, sports gambling, racing, etc. It does not work that way. If a business has a line of business which is not profitable, they close it.

Does your local grocery still sell bread?  It is always a loss due to waste. But if they don’t have it they ain’t gonna get people in stores. A simple business term. It is called loss leaders. Sometimes you have to lose money on one product to make more on others

This is not bread. Racing is not a loss leaders that contributes to the other lines of business, it is a loser. The space of a few slot machines generates as much revenue as racing. Add to that the value of all that land the racing facilities take up. Hotels, townhomes, retail, restaurants, etc. would be worth more than the racing.

While bread does draw customers into a grocery store, racing draws nobody into a casino

I won't speak to your first question/point, because I already see that is a waste of time.

As to your second point, in the world of business, apparently you never heard of a loss leader. I really wish you were in my business. I'd do better. But, if you bet on horses, then you are, and thank you very much!
