I don’t understand doesn’t anyone that does any good racing horses have these things loaded up with drugs??
Didn’t Beckwith set record last year for most wins in one meet at Saratoga??
Didn’t him and his wife get positive tests last year??
   What’s the difference?

they should be thrown out too.  As for Jame MCcassey it is one week and he will probably regress some.

You let someone in, and they come out of the gate like that----if you want to throw them out, go ahead! If they have a bad track record, then you should not have let them in in the first place. That's just another example of short-sightedness, deaf ear, blind eye, and not knowing the racing and racetrack business.

But if you don't throw them out----first, immediate 24/7 surveillance. Two, race out of a X hours detention barn. Third, enhanced testing, outside labs, out of competition testing, etc.

This has been done before. Perhaps not at Stga. Maybe not formalized, but certainly not new.

Im sure they will back up here in maine in two months. Up here they are allowed to have 2 or 3 horses in a race.

Cliff Grundy has been around a long time. I met him, and his dad Seymour, what seems like a thousand years ago. When I first met him they had Spotlite Lobell in the Hambo, with Jan Nordin, and finished third. They had horses with Nordin, and also with Bob McIntosh (they were partners on Camluck). He's owned some very good horses.

Over the years he's had plenty of trainers----Gordon Norris was a long-time main man for Grundy, Jake Huff, Mike Watson, and I guess now Sowers. I think he had horses with Nick Surick and then bailed on him.

More than likely will end up back in Maine. Maine racing should be alot easier this year... maybe some of the lower end guys won't totally starve.

i agree grandstand, for folks like this there should be "extra" attention paid based on prior suspensions or suspicions
if they agree than they are welcome to race , if they don't than you know there was issues and you did the right thing

The obstacle is that you have people who are stabled on-track, and others who are off-track. At the Meadowlands, everyone is off-track. Whether it's track ownership, racing commissions, everybody and anybody----you need arms and legs for out-of-competition testing. I also think if you are going to have someone race out of a detention barn for X hours before everyone else, make that person pay for it! Same for security.

I was with a trainer once who they did out of competition testing on. He was shooting massive #'s. They showed up unannounced, searched the barn thoroughly, and tested all 40 horses in the barn. They did not charge the trainer for that. Everything, every horse, passed. I don't know what they tested for. After that, they wanted the trainer to race out of an extended detention barn. They said he would pay for that. He did. He did not pass that cost onto the owners. I don't remember how long that went on for, but it wasn't long, and when it ended, he didn't even make a big deal of it. Bottom line----they should do whatever they can to have integrity in the sport and business, integrity in the process, and a fair and level playing field. Period. Couple that with universal medication rules and punishment, three strikes your out, whatever it is. Checks and balances. Will there be contamination? Sure. Could there be sabotage? Yes, but protect against that. It's never perfect, but it's about progress and striving for the ideal.

So let me understand this...Beckwith and the wife have had 3-4 positives in the last 18 months...for testosterone and sheep wormer etc...and it's business as usual for them?...He takes horses off the grounds the day of the race..to a farm down the road..runs a tube into them and brings them back to race same day...thats OK with management?? and the State??....how about the enterprise he's got going with horses he trains???...gives them to the Mongeon brothers, Cappello and 2 or 3 others to train for $40 a day...never looks at them and charges the owners $60-$70 a day...Makes  ngc3 8000-10,000 a month, and the best part is he keeps the 5%.....What the fuck......  ngc3
