Ken Warkentin's stupid comment
« on: February 02, 2025, 08:28:07 AM »
Ken Warkentin congratulated Jason Bartlett last night for winning his 11,000th race earlier in the week at Yonkers by referring to him as "one of the all-time greats". Talk about a gross exaggeration.

We all know it isn't true overall resume wise…but statistically speaking he would be considered one of the best ever.

Commentators always embellish for the sake of delivery and effect. I don't hold that against somebody. I think it was more glamorizing 11,000 wins, which really doesn't need glamorizing. Obviously he's not one of the all-time greats, but 11,000 wins puts you in some pretty elite company.

11,000 wins puts him in the top 15 of all time. He'll soon past guys like Zeke Parker and Walter Case who are in the low (maybe mid) 11,000 range. Not too shabby. LOL.

I just love the guy in the paddock that interviews the drivers and his stupid asked questions for example: We have Tyler Miller here and Tyler in the last race tonight you have the 10 who's up in class from Monticello and has been not really that good in last few what you are thinking for driving tactics?..

What do you think Moron?

Anybody that's been around harness racing knows that was a stupid comment by Warkentin. There are and were so many drivers better then Bartlett it would take a whole page to list them.

The one person who doesn't realize it was a stupid comment was Warkentin himself.

What about Dave Miller with that interview. I don’t know any of my drives other than Yannicks horse because he called me . Sorry can’t help you . Oh do you have another beer ?

"hall  of famer" Ken Warkentin could be the most overrated guy in the sport. Average announcer who
thinls he's top of the line. Makes stupid ass comments every night. And Dave Little thinks he's godsgift.
Fact of the matter is, Hes not.

Everybody has their own preference when it comes to track announcers or announcers who cover sports. Just because you've been around a long time doesn't make you a great announcer. I think he's okay, but nothing special. In my opinion if he was such a great announcer, he'd be calling somewhere which races 4 or 5 days a week for more money than whatever he's making at Meadowlands.

11000 wins regardless of who he's driving for is impressive! That's a he'll of alot of victory laps! Jason can drive a horse. He drives mostly on a half and has the sale to suit that.

I had the winner so when he jinxed Captain Bazinga I knew I was home. Too often though when I have a horse, I’m the one getting jinxed by the jumping the gun race call.

  • MTP1972: One year a long time ago I cashed IRS tickets for some people totaling around $40,000 making around $4000 doing so. I picked up thousands and thousands in losing tickets, kept programs and a daily log of how I did. When I filed my tax return that year and claimed them as losses I was audited by some old fart who didn't know shit. At the end of the audit he said I showed enough proof I lost the money back and he'd submit it in his report. 6 months later I get a notice from IRS saying my proof wasn't good enough and included a tax bill of $12,000, which I never paid because after 10 years they forgave it. Unforunately my state piggybacked on it and sent me a tax biil for $3200 which I disputed and they kept adding on interest and late fees. Finally 2 years later my bill was up to $8000 and they sent a wage attachment to my employer si I got fucked big time.

  • MTP1972: Back at Garden State Harness I hit an $11,000 trifecta for a $1 on a horse, Speedy Wright, driven by Mark Kesmodel paid $11 to win. The exacta paid $60 but a real bomb finished 3rd. Unforunately at that time if your winnings were over $5000 they automatically took out 28% + another 3% for NJ State Tax leaving me with only $3800 from a $5500 ticket.
