Seems to be on a lot of long shots and nowhere near where he can pick his drives in the big races. Cullipher gives him most of his power drives and sometimes his still second choice. He's a gas and go driver and hard to pull that quarter pole move when your 50 to 1! Needs to stay at Dover where he can choose his drives.

Unless he starts getting some live drives from the better stables, which will be difficult, his days of winning stakes races will be few and far between. When you're not winning the big races anymore, you become the forgotten man. In spite of that, his purse earnings for the year are over 8 million dollars which is still a nice living.

Agree, but why has he lost the rides for the big stables....Other than Cullipher.

I understand why Dexter would be top call virtually always, but why did they lose confidence in TT. I don't typically follow the top tier races, I am more of a bottom feeder so the question is legit.

because when he is in overnights at b tracks against lesser driver he is fine, when he has to compete against the best he is the worst driver in that race

He's never really driven much for the big stables, and in the past 3 or 4 years, Dunn and the McCarthy brothers have taken alot of his drives away. He rarely drives for Burke, Takter,  and Alagna, so his opportunities are limited. Cullipher horses are mostly overnight horses. I don't see it getting any better in the future either. All the top drivers except him travelled to the 3 tracks in Kentucky for their sire stake races but Tetrick only went for the Red Mile. Guess he's not as hungry for money anymore.

In other words, like you, Tetrick is a "lost cause" I take it you won't be sending him a Christmas card this year.

He still drives alot of Pelling's horses, but his stable is small compared to the others and he didn't have that good of a year. I don't see it getting any better in the future either. Sounds like the Dave Palone of the Northeast. Content not travelling so much. I think he lives in South Jersey, has kids, makes sense.

He lives right down the road from Andrew McCarthy in South Jersey. Palone is also 62 years old. It's also the main reason David Miller is moving back to Ohio in 2026, he just turned 60, and tired of all the travelling, plus he's loaded.

  • Trigger: Very good analysis Calhoun, moreso from my perspective that Albin Jimenez was suspended and the #2 ride was really suspicious and overooked.  Is it possible that there is action equal to far greater outside mutual pools worldwide?

  • Calhoun: That tri pool was $4500. Net of takeout $3300.  Out of 60 possible outcomes, the result was  5th most likely out of 60 (using win odds to calc). Paid 14 to 1. Doesn't seem awful. It also would have been bet pretty good by the genpop. Maybe rigged for the 3 to win but the tri? I think not too likely.
