NYSGC Prohibts Fritillaria Alkaloids
Memo to: all NY Standardbred horsemen and Veterinarians From: NYSGC Equine


Recently, the New York Drug Testing and Research Program detected the 2 major alkaloids of the Bulbus Fritillaria plant (Peimine (Verticine) and Peiminini (Verticinone) in Standardbred  horses racing in New York. Fritillaria herbal feed supplements that contain these alkaloids (e.g. “Open Air,” “Power Pak  Nitro,” and “Respi-Free” marketed by MB Mad Barn, USA) have anti-inflammatory, antitussive,  and expectorant effects. The efficacy of these alkaloids has been demonstrated scientifically.  The safety of these compounds has not been determined in horses. For this reason, and  because Fritillaria alkaloids are not listed as a permitted medication in the New York Harness  Racing Rules (4120), Fritillaria alkaloids are considered to be performance-enhancing prohibited  substances (PED). 


Effective October 6, 2023, the prohibition of the use of fritillaria alkaloids in harness horses racing in New York will be enforced with zero tolerance testing.

I'll say it again. The USTA's new zero tolerance against beards. Meanwhile this happens at a District 8 directors farm and is condoned....again . Guess Mr. Ford is too busy trying to save harness racing in NJ. Anyone else notice next month that's down to one track? Maybe someone can buy Atlantic City Racecourse and reopen it.

Not one horse has left Ford's and he has three different trainers down.  He even use Kakaly wife at PCD last week and that woman hasn't trained a horse in 15yrs.

the usta is a public relations association to make harness racing look good. they hire current or old horsemen and women to work for association. almost like a charity case for trainers and drivers kids. over pay them whether they are good at the job or not. they are not in the business of cleaning up the industry. they want everyone to think its all fine and dandy.
start making positives criminal. send them to trial. not only are they doping horses, they are fixing the outcome of a sporting event.  the race commisions are a joke.
lock them up in prison. it may not stop them all but i bet if they are found guilty and have to serve time they wont be at the barn the next day.
    its right infront of their eyes. they look totally fucking dumb.

The usta and all the commissions are on the take.  If you for one second think these trainers aren’t handing out envelopes to get these slaps on the wrist a year after the fact, you’re nuts!  Why would the commissions subject themselves to public ridicule and look like morons if they weren’t benefiting in some way?  That’s who the feds should be looking into!
