This guy has to be the worst of all time?  Has 30-40 head and can't win a race.  How does this guy stay in business?  Maybe time for a new career?

Great question! John has had a nice career for a small stable trainer, and a second career. His lifetime earnings has got to be somewhere close to $10mm. I don't see that figure in the tag-line of any arm-chair trainers here on this site, LOL. John used to be a cop. I don't know him well but I know his brother a lot better and longer (when Kevin was a groom for Linda Toscano). He's a nice guy. I think John was very friendly at one time with Ray Schnittker. I am certain there will be people here who will say John's not a good guy, he's a crook, a cheat, and so on---but those people have to say that. It's who they are. They have to say negative things about everyone.

John was honored a few years ago by the Goshen/Monticello Chapter of the USHWA...with their Good Guy Award. I guess nobody here sits on the voters committee.

He had a horse in the NA Cup not that long ago. Wasn't the favorite, but he had a shot. A bit of a contender. Colt won $300k plus. I'm sure plenty of trainers here on this site have accomplished that. For real. Not in their own mind.

Are you being serious?  262k?  he has 30 horses.  That's an avg of 3 starts per horse.  You mean to tell me his owners are even coming close to breaking even.  John is a nice guy but come on.  Do you want a nice guy to talk to or a guy that can train your horse?  If I'm gonna give my money away I'm gonna give to Nancy and hope to get lucky one night when she's drunk!

He has only 114 starts in 2024. If he has 30 horses they average less than 4 starts each. I don't know much recently. John & Gringras had a hot streak many years ago at the Meadowlands.

I see 11 horses that have started since September.  Don’t know where the other 19 are.

Listen, if we say he has 60 horses...that would make him look even worse...so let's do that!!!! It's really sad that this is what this place has come to. It's sad that some people just pick on a good guy, who they don't know $h!t about (and perhaps claim they do), and they criticize, demean, and belittle him. The guy is just another good guy, doing what he wants to do, minding his own business, working for a living, feeding his horses and his family, and going about life. That's who some people have to pick on. Tells me a lot.
