A question for all horseplop--
« on: September 16, 2024, 01:41:15 AM »
What drivers are 'easier' on horses when they drive them (and still get results)?

What drivers are "tougher" on horses when they still drive them [and still get results) although they might 'take a little more out of them' down the road]?

I disagree completely with David Miller.  He can't hold one and if they have a tough mouth he rolls them and burns them up.  Zeron definitely is a soft hands developer of babies.  Sears was the master of developing a baby along with JC.  Dexter has great hands too when it comes to babies.

Yannick, Timmy, Mcarthy - they are gonna burn them up and only the strong survive.

Easy on horses...Chris Christoforu

sits them on the cones for 7/8ths then mildly asks them for effort when the race is long over

rarely tries to win-doesnt get much easier on horses than that

I completely agree with you on Dave Miller.  Drove my pacer at the meadowlands early last year and got into a speed duel with a 60-1 shot driven by an amateur driver, leading to a 1/2 in 53.  Finished 3rd, but horse was never the same after that.

Trace Tetrick. If he comes away 3rd-7th, he's coming first over no matter what. Never seen him wait for cover.

100% accurate assessment of his driving skills. Only thing is he isn’t being easy on the horse, he’s STIFFING them.
Every horse that he sits on has PLENTY left in the tank at the wire. PLENTY.  He is worse than Dale Hiteman. Always the best at the finish but too bad he’s 4th.

Even the best of hands go “brain dead” on ocassion!

Big trotting race years ago and they hooked up in a sub 54 half (fast for it’s time) with HOF drivers.
