One of the Hugest Lies in Racing
« on: September 14, 2024, 08:05:31 PM »
Why do they even post driver weight in Harness?  These weights are the what ever the driver puts down and most likely never changes from the 1st license to the last.  I have never seen a driver weight change.  You mean to tell me Yannick, Timmy, Jody Jamison haven't put on a few pounds?  In JJ case few hundred?  I mean why are they not required to weight at least once a month?

From what is said about the weight of the driver in harness racing, it is another tool in handicapping today.  Most horsemen believe this is important, especially of windy days and sloppy tracks.

ProRace 1.0 is the lightest ProRace model, offering Level 1 protection and weighing from only 420g.

The leading protection of choice for professional Jockeys, when racing in Level 1 permissible countries. It is designed to meet the demanding criteria of race riding, delivering impressive comfort and protection at market leading weight levels.

420g is approximately 15 oz.

Curious question--can a 15 oz vest make you look 50 lbs. heavier?  Jockeys wear them and it doesn't change their physical appearance.

So, you're saying that certain states require this, but drivers/jockeys don't comply?
