TCI

TCI is in to qualify Tues at the Meadows, Chris Page in the bike. See what he looks like after spending time at home base.

seems over rated and over hyped off last years effort vs Karl--having many think he is great

ever since he broke in the Zweig at Vernon-he hasnt been the same never lived up to his billing

his Hambletonian elim win was mediocre at best

not sure why all the fanfare on this one--Sig Sauer is superior and a few others are better than him

on his very best day-he is the 4th or 5th ranked trotter out there

Sig Sauer
Highland Kismet
Secret Agent Man

those three are all progressing while TCI has stagnated as a 3yo

I agree with this assessment!

What he did in the Mohawk Million last year was a real feat.

And I am pretty sure that, plus the subsequent racing the snot out of him, probably produced what you see today.

While I would not be surprised if they figured out a way to get him back to good (his connections seem pretty good at that), they better figure it out pretty soon because right now he's cheapening his stud value every time he steps on the track.

I thought that Burke stated that TCI was at the home base prior to the Hambletonian. Burke said something like they wanted another opinion.

The horses you mention above (Sig, Kismet, Secret Agent Man) have something in common and it’s that they had less starts combined than TCI last year. These things aren’t robots. TCI went some huge miles last year, and started off pretty well this year but it takes an absolute standout to duplicate those performances year after year, especially when that type of effort comes as a 2yo.

It appears that as the breed evolves to be more Thoroughbred like, the top level speedsters take on the some of the T-bred limitations too. No more heats and looking like no more 20 starts or more for the young ones.

OK qualifier, he got away from the gate, never going to see a 1/4 in 30, 1/2 in 59, 3/4's in 26.4 last 1/4  27.2.  Nice last 1/2, that wasn't the problem, Ronnie trains him faster than that. We will see next time he's in to go with the big dogs. Bythemissle put in nice mile.
