sink hole at the Red mile Tuesday, 2nd race
« on: August 14, 2024, 09:15:08 AM »
Dave Miller's horse makes a break and he takes him inside out of the way.

I couldn't figure out how he fell off the bike until I watched the replay a few times.

He hit a pot hole the had to be close to a foot deep.

How does that happen on the Grand Circuit?

No excuse.

Not just the red mile but anywhere in racing. Doesn’t matter if it’s harness or t-bred!  Was there bad weather recently there?  Not an excuse but was that the issue??

Looked like some kind of driveway into the centerfield.

And the usually reliable Gabe Prewitt- whom I know some on this site dislike- incredibly failed to mention the breaking incident and loose horse.

That Gabe dude is ok 'BUT' please, for him to be brought in to all of these different

I appreciate his efforts to keep Pompano open.. but he is a mediocre race caller at best

One thing that really bugs me about Gabe is if he is supposed to be an ambassador for harness racing and he pretty much runs the show at Lexington, why would the Kentucky sire stakes be on the Sunday before the jug. It's one of the reasons Confederate didn't race in Delaware last year, and I don't blame the ownership group. Why go to Delaware run 2 heats and risk drawing 8 hole when you can pace a glorified training mile at Lexington and bank 200 grand. If he was truly trying to promote the sport, there sire stakes final would be around labor day.

No way Confederate was going to the Jug and the 1/2 mile track where a midnight visit would be difficult.

Race calls are one thing , sure, but to bring him in at practically every big race at these tracks, like
he's something special is another. He couldn't plug in Sam McKee's mic.

Precisely the point. He is the guy by default. Harness racing has no one that's worth featuring
as a traveling 'NAME'. Hey, I rarely listen to any of them. Really kinda noticed when he was up at Nfld.

There is a big void there I would suggest past trainers for drivers myself. Just like with any sport they bring back old players or coaches etc... to commentate or analyze the racing.
