FYI, Sugarcane Hanover did not even race in the Hambletonian. He was prepped for the later races of the year which he won easily! John Simpson Sr. was "having fun" with the horse and did not want to sell him! At this period in time, the Europeans wanted a very good North American trotter in Europe and Simpson Sr. accommodated them. Sugarcane was sold for $ 2 million to Scandanavian interests! The horse was a well-regarded sire in Europe!Can you do this with top North American horses today and what would their value be if this could be done?Karl and any others you can think of!
