2.) Did Kakaly not know he was in a trotting race?

Definitely does not engender trust on the part of the public.  From the replay it is difficult to tell his rigging, but was he pacing free-legged? 

Totally inexcusable and should be the headline in HRU and DRF coverage, but doubt they will even mention it.

I had 1 a number of years ago that switched from trot to pace near the wire at pompano. The horse outside him covered him up pretty good so it was hard to see, but they raised an objection and dqd him from 1st to last.
Regarding Erv’s horse, none of the other trainers in the race caught this before the race went off?
