“Looks like the battle is going to be for second” with a quarter of a mile left as the leading horse is plummeting backwards 

Horse ends up breaking stride and finishing last by 25 lengthens

That announcer is the worst I’ve ever heard call horse racing. I can’t believe they can’t find someone else better. He forgets horses names during race, calls wrong horses, top of stretch he’s still calling horses that are 7th and 8th that are 15 lengths off.  Just horrendous.

Regarding the first race call, starting down the stretch he said looks like the race may be for second and never missed a beat when the horse on top broke, calling the rest of the stretch drive just fine. Yes, he calls the horses in the back of the pack in the last turn because Vernon has a long stretch and many horses win from last there. Yes he makes mistakes but you can’t name an announcer that doesn’t- if you don’t like it go back to a track you do.

His words didn’t change how the race ended.
