Ohio casino revenue drop affecting purses
« on: April 20, 2024, 12:45:37 PM »
I noticed upcoming Scioto meet have lowered their purses. I heard their casino revenue is down 4 million compared to last year. The economy is finally taking its toll especially on the senior citizen crowd. I'm assuming other tracks are starting to feel the pinch also.

Could you post the the Scioto purse's, because Miami Valley has record purse structure.

Coming to a racino near you. Chester dropped 11 days for this year and purses still down about 10%

Someone check on pocono as well as Saratoga as far as purses being on the downside. Even pocono raced for a it more money 10-15 years ago too.
Even gamblers only can spend so much money. And with the newer updated forms of gambling, the horsemen don’t get 1 penny of it. So sad where racing has hone as to being totally dependent on slot machines.

Go to USTA website /horseman and look at Scioto's condition sheet for opening week. Purses down compared to Miami Valley Gaming purses across the board. Last year they were comparable.
For example open purse 25k-27k vs. MVG at 34k. Also, got from a reliable source purse fund down around 3- 4 Mil from last year. I agree sports betting is sucking dollars out of casinos to some degree. Would not post if not credible info.
