Ceba Horsey is truly a poor horseman, BUT…
« on: March 27, 2024, 05:35:08 PM »
… give him credit for one thing. Just now, in Dover’s 3rd, he had the trailing 9 post in the second tier. He elected to follow the “5” and got off to a fine start. Then of course, he overdrove his horse, and after leading to the 5/8, predictably quit. But while it certainly is legal, I can’t recall the last time a second tier horse followed a midpack starter. Just my two cents.

You see sometimes, not often, as wide as three or four paths wide. Five wide or wider , I would call quite rare.
But Ceba is a rare 'talent'. ngc3

Trivia?
The Meadows
Early 1970's
Two year old stake
What Hambo winning driver from the back tier scored his future two time Horse Of The Year out behind the far outside horse? (8 or 9pp) I forget how many across they scored then.

The ones that are actually going forward, I don't believe he trains. Just down on paper.

I think that might be Bunk who trains.

A very  good guess!
Wrong on both counts.

The "5" horse was the 1/5 favorite--so it only makes sense he follows that one

also-you didn't mention he won the first race of the day

overall --he shouldn't be allowed on the track whatsoever due to his past

Yes you are correct!
Harry Harvey trained and drove Albatross as a two year old.
Stanley Dancer as a three and four year old.

In 1953 Harvey won the second and third heats of The Hambo with the filly Helicopter.
They jumped it off in the first heat.
They won the second heat leaving fron PP 17 in a 23 horse field.
Now that was horse racing!

No sense at all. That 1/5 will park you the entire race.
