The success rate for purchasing horses at auction and being successful is low. If you do your due diligence and find value in the purchase you can succeed. All of my private purchases involved my trainer going a trip or two and a full vet examination. I’ve been lucky.
Wrong. The success rate of turning a profit in harness racing is 2%. Ive been in for 6 years purely because I love it. I’ve lost money every year and use a top trainer.
This is a reply to all of Rocco's infantile responses to serious remarks. I don't know you but I do know many of your former trainers and to a man/woman they hope that they are never so broke that they would entertain considering you for a client again. The Essig Stable won't take any of your ignorant shit and likely will soon send you on your way. Thos previous trainers have a common refrain in that you are on the phone almost daily asking questions and making comments that expose your ignorance of the business. You want to act like a big time owner and some others like you, know nothing about the business and are too lazy to learn. Your comments on this forum only expose your ignorance and lack of respect for this business. Your sense of entitlement coming from inherited wealth only exacerbates the little man-big mouth syndrome that you personify.I have never regretted being honest when dealing with others in this industry and do know it has cost me a few sales over the years. I find it a lot easier to live with myself. Even though it is a fact that most people would rather hear a well crafted lie that the truth. In my over sixty years sitting behind horses (which you have probably never done once) I have heard it said that a good horse can have a bad owner and that applies to fractional owners, as well.
Erv has one for sale on On Gait today. Last year he listed a trotter with year old photos that I was stupid enough to buy. I wish someone would have told me about him. My purchase will be a total write off. If you are going to consider an Erv Miller Horse do your due diligence.
Did he list this horse using the same photos as your purchase?
All online auctions are buyer beware.
OF COURSE THEY ARE ,,,..some wanna take their chance and try to improve when buying off hall of fame trainers then its themwheres my pigeon ,KIRBYS ACE HES OVERDUE\HERE KITTY KTTY
Do you ever post something or constructive or do you enjoy being a Debbie Downer all day and making attacks
THAT DOESNT WORK EITHER. I PAID A VET $350 FOR A THOROUGH EXAMINATION OF A HORSE THAT MY TRAINER LIKED AT THE MEADOWLANDS IN 2001. VET SAID HORSE HAD NO ISSUES AND LOOKED GOOD. TURNED OUT IT WAS THE SAME VET WHO THE TRAINER REGULARLY USED AND HE BLOCKED THE HORSES LEFT ANKLE THE NIGHT BEFORE MY TRAINER AND THAT POS VET FAKE EXAMINED HIM. SO YES EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE A VET EXAMINE THE HORSE, THE SELLER PAYS HIM MORE MONEY AND YOU GET A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH.
XYZ best buyer of auction horses EVER.
