Burke said in recent interview that he races so much more than anybody else that hes more exposed to positives like contamination for example. So when penalty gets ratcheted up from each positive its more burdensome on him than others. A converse example is a poor person getting a speeding ticket versus a rich person- the penalty is greater for one person over the other.

I mean more starts  = more employees - more stables - will increase exposure and possibly the chance for a positive.

But --- you chose that -- and that's the risk you take when you have stables in multiple states -- that you list yourself as the trainer so that you get your 5% instead of having the real trainer down as responsible.

Seems like the answer is easy -- scale back then....

I see. So hes lacking control by having such an expansive operation- greed ? But is it bad for the industry if he has less entries causing smaller betting handles. The old saying- is it in the best interest of racing, baseball, etc to punish a sport in error ,in this case a top trainer ?

Exposure by numbers. Yeas. you have that big of a staff, and that large of a stable. The risk parallels the rewards.

Poor Ronnie, he's pulling in 1 Million a year just with the 5%. He is principal in Burke Racing, how much is that worth? They now have a breeding operation, with the some hot stallions, they own a bunch of decent mares, how much is that worth? Fucking cry baby, he can walk anytime, but if anyone thinks he's changed how the outfit runs or turning any control over to Mickey J, YOU NUTS and dead wrong. He's a beard just like all the rest. RONNIE is the ONLY ONE who makes the watch tick! If he quits the GIANT STABLE wouldn't last long

Get out the Violin and comfort the Burke crew while the head dog lobbies for different rules for people who have a plethora of horses IN THEIR CONTROL! The last 3 words are the reason for this round of positive tests! I can't believe that the cart riding Sasquatch has trouble with the findings! THE MORE HORSES THAT LEAVE THE FARM,,THE BETTER THE CHANCE OF SOMETHING FOREIGN COMING HOME WITH THEM IS ESCALATED! DUH!! 11.wp

I find it funny that he has 3 so called cross contamination positives for Gabapentin.  How about the needles and syringes he was caught with at the Meadows?  Did the vet get his vet truck confused with Ronnies Escalade and put them in there cross contaminating them?

Bottom line, mathematically, he's correct. Because of that I'll buy a higher number of bute overages, clenbuterol, typical therapeutic drugs that are used in the normal course of equine care. However, even with that, at a certain point, it is reflective of how you run your business.

All that aside, for PED the number of starts you have per year is irrelevant. Period. Unless you are claiming contamination or intentional maleficence, but even so, that's still your responsibility to handle. Bigger operation, more/better security, cameras, night-watchmen, whatever. You want to grow and be # 1 -- there's a price that comes with that.

Every barn should have one stall to whizz in.   No horses allowed.
