This is interesting how a top cheat goes dead. In my opinion no driver looks good on an empty horse. Just the same as many look good on a loaded piece. I like to see how the driver is doing on his drives from other stables before forming an opinion.

When has Merriman ever been on a Rhoades 6-5 morning line and taken ZERO late money to go off at 4-1, sit a perfect trip and have ZERO animal in the lane. This whole charade is TOO FUNNY. DEAD GAME LADDIES and dead Rhoades.

It just takes a few more people to contact state legislators with this type of suspicion to nudge them the direction of decoupling.

I'm sorry for the few good eggs, but blowing up the whole carton is my preferred method for avoiding bad eggs.

Anyone else Remember last year when Cory Kreiser claimed PCs Expresso, horse looked rough on paper, breaking often... 1st start off the claim, new lifetime mark. The following 3 weeks, the horse beat his lifetime mark...Haven't seen him race in awhile

PIGLAND made a great observation on the previous issue (see previous Rhoades post here on horseplop.

When is the next thread on the Rhodes horses coming out. I enjoy reading the names of the horses, the morning lines, and who is driving them, and they enjoy reading the results afterwards and the comments associated with the respective races. Everyone can also watch the replays too!!

I'm missing it too.

That horse in the 8th tonight (Sunday) looked awful.

Everyone involved is complicit in this.

Just remember to remind Ohio legislators of the evils of things like this.

I'm giving it under 5 years before serious talk of decoupling/reduction takes place.

Maybe like a certain group, horsemen will cry for reparations for the wrongs done to them.

I love the people that think "permission" was necessary for expanding gambling.  That just cracks me the fuck up.

just so you know the nonsense/bullshit/cheating that goes on in harness racing has nothing to do with casinos wanting decoupling, they would want it even if it was squeaky clean
and yes the "permission/rebate/cost of entry" was absolutely necessary for casinos to gain access and a gambling license
if it wasn't do you think they would have done that deal
they have enough lawyers to find a loop hole and they couldn't and wanted it fast tracked so did the deal with horseman groups

Off the board race 1 at 6-5. I scored out on the winner.

On vacation this week so not spending much time here. He has a few droppers tonight that will lose but I do expect a winner later in the card. We shall see,

Race 6  1 horse  2-1 ML   1-1 until post time and then may have  had $$$$ removed late and went off at 2-1. You guessed it. Done at 1/w and off the board.Betting patterns similar to Surick and Andy Miller at Freehold a few years back,

The key being "fast tracked".  Of course they had to do what they did when they did to expedite things, but to think that beyond a period harness racing is owed anything is insane.  It is only a matter of time before they "slowtrack" decoupling.

The horse racing world has had more then enough time to get their business on track.  So when decoupling comes, it will be nice to see failures finally fail.

Shit, pot is legal most places.   Horse people should be on their knees thanking any god they believe in for the deals they've gotten.  It is obvious times and attitudes change.

And of course gambling interests don't care about racing and its problems, but all the bad publicity will make it that much easier to get rid of it.

well actually harness racing is allowed some sort of payment based on what they gave the casinos
could horse racing do better, of course they could and  have to very soon
but to expect horse racing be at the same relative level it was years ago is insane
they allowed casinos to open on their property
their is legal sports betting everywhere
people cant bet on their phones and watch and bet races from home
remember 25 years ago horse racing was almost the only legal betting game in town
its a different world and racing needs to adapt and change

but yes it continues with casinos continuing to support it at some level
