New Harness Track Cumberland Run opens today in KY
« on: October 15, 2023, 11:46:50 AM »
Opening day for races.  There are some KY stakes with horses we know from Lex and Oak Grove.  Some of the big barns have horses in.  It's a 5/8 track I believe and supposedly with a longer stretch than Oak Grove.

I just watched the 1st ever race there.
Saw tents and porta johns, is that for the attendees or construction crews as not sure if the building is open yet.
In any case, very pretty fall foliage in background.

There's your trivia question for eternity.  Purple Jesus won the first race ever there with a Hill horse.

Only Harness racing would open a new track and give it the same name as an existing one.

I love they are dragging  races out with no money in the pools.

There is no grandstand
12 day meet.

Race 9. Daily Double pool

$ 138. Get you some of that  tmbz1

Latonia back in the day. I believe it was updated and renamed Turfway Park.

KYRC said that they must have there track in order for the meet, that they can no longer race the card at Red Mile.  Most likely the investment ib consumer spectator will ultimately be minimal and complete sometime be for the meet next season.  Actually odd considering the casino is not on property, but down the road.

Don't know who was involved or the circumstances but it looks like somebody tried to pull a fast one already! They scratched one Sunday for a UOC(Unapproved Owner Change)! Perhaps somebody was denied entry and they put the horse in another name? Could be wrong but I hate it when someone tries to pull a fast one!

They literally used dynamite to blast the mountain away to built this place

there's no grandstand....bec ause there isn't anywhere to build one

shame it's only a 1 month meet...looks like they done a tremendous job with the track itself
