Race times sort of average at The Red Mile..
« on: September 29, 2023, 07:50:17 PM »
with temps @  76 to 79 degrees I would have thought there would have been some super fast times.

The Red Mile is a super track for excellent times and pretty much
an accepted fact that the times are approx 1.18 seconds faster
than any night time track such as Meadowlands and Mohawk.

Either way some nice horses raced today and Confederate races tomorrow.

lmk if I am wrong on the fast Red Mile times.

Not wrong. The 2yo trotting colt, Karl, laid down a good mile yesterday. He's the real deal though. With the good weather, would love to see Confederate better his record.

TRM will put a record on nearly any horse. Seems like you can take 2-3 seconds off their times once they go to any other track.

very difficult for confederate to beat his best time
that was a set up mile but still impressive

100% agree that it was set up for him so would love to see him actually prove himself worthy of that record (or better).

So what would he have to do to prove himself?  Go right down the road on his own?  They tried that with Bulldog didn’t work so well

Clear and a little warmer today (Sat) low 80s. Track looks super fast.

Sadly all harness racing has going for itself as a downtrending industry for decades is fast quarters and recording a record mile. Very few go personal to enjoy the races. Very few wager anymore on the races. It's purse funding comes from casino slot profits. But hey if we can see a new world record how awesome for the very to give a shit. Nobody outside the industry cares and very few inside the industry care to clean up the sport. Things on the thoroughbred side of day to day racing not a soul cares about how fast a horse will finish or a record is broken. Well maybe one that has stood for 50 years.

There is a big difference in Sbreds and Tbreds. Tbreds are a lot older breed and are in a full out gallop. Sbreds are still developing so time still means something. When I first started in this game if you had a 2yr old trotter that could go in 2 minutes you had a pretty good horse. Now I wouldn’t qualify one that couldn’t train easy in 2 minutes

Miss the point wasn't depicting between the two more so it's all people worry about and get wood over as a new record falls. Big fucking deal. Nobody watches, nobody bets, if you want to know throw in thoroughbreds into a mix being more world wide or US relevant and have a public wagering debate its such a landslide

You said nobody in Tbreds care about records. I was just pointing out why. BTW the purses in Tbreds are also 90% casino enhanced. Don’t act like that do anything better than the SBreds do
