Good for him if he is happy. How do you ever "cleanse" harness racing from your blood once it gets inside??  LOLOL

If you can get a new and better career, make more money without injury and health risks, go for it!!

Delcampo trained for the Glassers for awhile. He was a top pool player.

Ah yes.  Bobby Del Campo.  Played pool in Plainview in Plainview, L.I.  He was quite the hustler. At that time I had graduated to 3 cushion billiards.

Yeah -- this crew is probably a little before your time -- by the 80s I was already on the west coast.

Do you recall the Redman's chief suck at that time at the Hollywood Park meet?  Hint, I"m speaking of the original " Redman".  The guy I speak of now races at Sacramento and Aces. I'm quite surprised that Redman and his great pacer have not been mentioned.

Jack still trying and driving in Delaware
Bill is at the Meadows

Billy Fahy was a driver when I had horses with Stillings/Salvi. at the Meadows which at the time was a real "Family track". He drove for his father Bob and did well, however, I am of the opinion that he tried to move up way to fast and became a little fish in a big pond.

Very first time at the track for me and my family -- Monticello. I'm 13. I go down by the rail to watch the post parade -- I'm fascinated. No one around me. Post parade ends -- Bobby Del Campo driving Sforza, turns his horse to score down -- an older guy appears next to me against the rail. As Bobby passes he turns to the guy tells him -- two, six -- guy dashes off.  I'm not quite sure what happened -- I go up to the grandstand tell my father -- he bets a $2 Perfecta two, six.  Yes $ 2.  Of course it comes in and pays $ 76.20.  I can't tell you how many times I went down to the rail again -- never heard anything.

Many years ago when Real Cormier was driving at Monticello I too would hang on the rail up the track a bit. On a few occasions Cormier would start talking French to other French speaking guys. They too would walk very quickly towards the grandstand. I can only surmise they were going to hit the windows. Did Cormier always win those races, nope. But maybe he wasn’t supposed to and told these guys? I don’t know. I believe Coco wound up running a kitchen somewhere before passing away. Monticello certainly had their share of characters.

The kitchen was in Pinehurst

80s into 90s, Coco Cormier, Mike Lavalee and a guy named Jean   operated a feed delivery truck   hay/grain/straw  at YR    they were the main on track supplier then  Red small flatbed type truck   Always felt weird to see Coco and Mike doing that rather than competing
