After the 20% take out that leaves a $3,000 net pool. This means there were 14 winning tickets. I don’t think you got screwed. It’s just 13 other people got lucky like you. This is the problem with the majority of harness tracks nowadays. The handles are so low it is hard to hit anything very big. The pool at the big Saratoga track had a Pick 5 pool of $445,600 and I believe a low 15% take out. Net pool was $378,760. If only 14 people had the win it would have paid $27,054 each. It is all about the pool and the take out rate. With the exceptions of The Meadowlands and Northfield Park harness pools stink for the more exotic bets.
