I also recall Manchego pushing out a 25:1 last quarter in a race, which is really chugging for a trotter.

I often wonder how accurate these times really are. It's not like they use electronic beams at each quarter pole to time in milliseconds. Would someone enlighten me on the procedure used.

At Hoosier they use the rigged computer battery inside the saddle pad and get away with saying it’s all computerized.  ngc3  ngc3 what they don’t talk about is who is sitting behind the computer and how computers can be programmed to do whatever you would like them to do.
Johnny Johnson fucked up Chicago harness racing. I hope you die !!!!

When I handicap a trot race I look for a horse with a good last quarter.

I also look for class drop, driver/trainer change, track size variants.

Actually, I have noticed that moreso than pacers, trotters in good form can go up in class for a few weeks (assuming their connections aren't trying to milk 2nd/3rd moneys.)

Many trainers and drivers at the Meadowlands, the OLD Meadowlands back in the glory days told me that the second quarter was short at least a 100 feet or so, They said it just comes up "too quick" This came up often when Nihilator paced the second quarter in 25.2 in "those" days. Just saying.  Didnt some horse come home in 24.4 in the midwest a few years ago and I remember one finishing in 25 flat at Vernon.

Your Right on the Money. And there was a horse at Scioto I believe that made the same feat.

24.4 seconds is a long time when you are being ridden hard.
