Meadowlands Friday Night
« on: April 14, 2023, 07:57:03 PM »
Race1, amateur drivers.  Race 2, 4 horses in race.  How is this conducive to increasing handle?

Just check the handle on those races! That will answer your question.

Well you may not like the amateurs, and that ok..... but I think the handle nullifies your question???

The 2nd race was the 3rd leg in 3-year trotting fillies series for the "STANDARDBRED RETIREMENT FOUNDATION" and it looks like a few fillies decided to sit out the 3rd leg but, Yes that 2nd race handle is pitiful...... Full disclosure Yonkers 2nd race had 5 entries, handle = $47,414

1st race handle = $348,779

2nd race handle = $72,033

Why not card the 4 horse field? They got SOME handle vs. making it a non-betting race and it played into the DD as well.

  • Calhoun: Thx I'm leaning to the 5 there.  Those CD/GP full field races look the best on the page. 1/2 length from being a G3 winner.
