Meadows too.  And the usual crooks winning already.  What a joke Pocono is!

so you can have a horse racing well in a claiming class where your options are to keep him in the class and risk losing him, or raise him up a class, or......bring him to Pocono to face the same level of horses youve dominated with no risk of being claimed.
What is the reasoning behind this kind of race?

I hate this as well. This is a runners  condition. This is harness racing pocono, get with it. Alls this does is protect the juicers.

Claiming races are the worst thing that ever happened in race classification with the track master rating system being a close 2 nd.

Claiming is juice heaven , go ahead and claim one and lose four seconds.

They do it at the beginning of the meet to protect horsemen and owners from losing a horse right away after a few months on the bench

I'll check the results. The pools say not many are betting Pocono. It's a track where the shady ones steal the majority of the money.
Time is up for Pocono Downs.

They are in place for a couple reasons.  One people can protect their horses they wintered. Two they have a bunch of claiming series coming up probably so people can protect them for the series. Can't wait for the series.... LETS GO ZZZZZ SOME HORSES!!!

Like the above said it's to protect the guys who are racing now. If not, you would not be able to keep a claimer until they start the series.
