Winter Racing?
« on: November 06, 2022, 08:36:18 AM »
With Pompano gone, what are winter racing options?  Cal Fixpo fairly warm, Dove warmer but quite competitive, same with Miami Valley, can just pretend it’s Miami FL.  No easy warm weather money.

It's winter. Most of the country is cold. Some places freezing. Buy some long johns and a hat with good gloves and suck it up. Monticello races all year. During an artic blast in January you get -35 degree wind chills.

Don't remind me of those frozen water buckets and frozen hands.. Makes me shake just thinking about it.. But let's face it , Monti will probably have full fields especially if they get those purse increases i read about..

They are counting on additional slot money from Newburgh. Do you really think that place will do well ?

I'd be surprised at this point .. i kinda think it's getting to be a saturated slot machine market at this point but i wish them all the best ..

Monticello needs horses. Many complain about track conditions. If the money is good some will go there.

They pull at the quarter and really race. Aaron Merriman works for his victories. No pet walking.

I agree.  Not as boring as most 1/2 tracks.

Aaron not a bad man but ive never witnessed a driver get passed more in the stretch than him. Maybe a few more situps and a few less budweisers. But for Northfield
hes very adequate.
