NA Cup Starters
« on: June 15, 2022, 08:59:57 AM »

The yearling prices for starters in the NA Cup.  Don't really have a point other than it's pretty interesting. Considering what yearlings have been selling for, not a lot of high priced ones.

1 Fourever Boy            $50,000
2 I Did It Myway          Homebred
3 Ron                         $26,000
4 Beach Glass              Homebred
5 Pebble Beach(L)        $85,000
6 Ario Hanover             $45,000
 7 Night Hawk(L)           $35,000
 8 Kolby Two Step          $12,000
 9 Frozen Hanover         $325,000
 10 Mad Max Hanover      $50,000

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they same ownership group, Schooner Stable bought the mare, Im With Her for $90K at Harrisburg then bred her to SBSW. The also own a 2yr old Stay Hungry and a yearling Downbytheseaside from the same mare.

Pebble Beach was the first of ten Seasides my trainer and I had on our list down in Lex. two years ago. He had good conformation , but was a bit small with a hernia. If he had gone a little less we probably would have got him. You never know how good a horse is going to be based on size. I looked last year and seven of the ten on our list  never made a penny as 2 yo. Picking yearlings is just one big scrap shoot.

12 races down and all chalk. Yes a boring North American Cup. Maybe a spicy hi 5 payout in 13th?

Agreed, those weren't very good and the winner could've been 2 seconds better than the field if he needed to be.  That horse might make 2 million this year if he stays healthy.  And not because he's a world beater, the rest aren't very good.

Super weak, 1:50 & most can’t keep up… majority of these were grass roots B colts in banner years…
