I would have to agree with Pigland, many other establishments will bite the dust in the next 5 years….

Here’s a ? For the folks on here… what tracks , big or small actually give two fucks & want harness racing to succeed? Tracks who promote & get behind the game?

Mohawk, Red Shores (Charlottetown/Summerside) Hanover, Grand River… what tracks in the states actually care and promote the product?

I AGREE 100% WITH THE ABOVE POST.   TRULY, THERE WILL NOT BE MUCH LEFT IN 5 YEARS AS THE INDUSTRY HAS NOT FOUND AND RETAINED EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP TO MAINTAIN AND GROW THE SPORT!!!!  ALL OF THE GENEROUS SLOT MONEY WAS HANDED OUT TO A SELECT FEW---A PERCENTAGE OF ALL DOLLARS COUNTRY WIDE NEEDED TO BE ALLOTED AND A UNIFIED LOBBYING EFFORT NEEDED TO BE SUSTAINED THROUGHOUT THE LAST 20 + YEARS!!!   IT SEEMS AS THOUGH MILLION CAME IN AND MILLIONS WENT OUT.  THE RIVCH GOT RICHER AND THE REST SURVIVED.   MANY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS WHILE OTHERS BECAME RICH.  MANY COULD NOT COMPETE AS SO MANY BROKE THE LAW AND THE LAW IS FINALLY CATCHING UP WITH MANY AND IT WILL GET WORSE.  THESE FOLKS NO ONLY PROFITED BUT IN ESSENCE DESTROYED THE BUSINESS BUT YET THEY THRIVED.

I AM VERY SURE IT IS TOO LATE TO SAVE THE INDUSTRY AS WE KNOW IT BUT IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO SAVE THE BUSINESS!!!

LEADERSHIP IS A FUNNY THING!!!  WE DO NOT NEED LEADERSHIP FROM WITHIN THE INDUSTRY ---WE NEED LEADERSHIP THAT CAN TAKE CONTROL OF THE PRODUCT AND PROMOTE IT WITH THE LAWMAKERS AND THE PUBLIC!!

SLOTS WERE GREAT AND RESCUED THE SPORT WHEN IT NEEDED HELP BUT ALSO MADE EVERYONE LACKADASICAL---JUST REACHED OUT AND TOOK MORE AND MORE WITHOUT REINVESTING BACK INTO SAVING THE SPORT!!!!

IT IS FUNNY THAT YOU CAN NOT PAY A INVOICE BUT YOU ARE SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY BUT YOU CAN HAVE A POSITIVE TEST AND OTHER MAJOR VIOLATIONS AND BE ABLE TO RACE!!!   I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS SPORT GOT TO THIS LEVEL---MY GOD, WHERE DID COMMON SENSE GO?  THE LITTLE GUY WITH SEVERAL HORSES WAS FORCED OUT OF THE BUSINESS---WHAT SAVED OHIO WAS THE SMALL STABLES AND THE GRASSROOTS STABLES THAT BRED A MARE OR TWO AND WENT TO THE RACES!!!!!

I WATCH THESE HUGE PURSES---TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHO IS RUNNING THE SHOW BUT USUALLY SEE MORE OF WHO IS CLEANING OUT THE CUPBOARDS!!

As if the industry was not already swimming against the tide, the IRS just designated breeding farms as hobby and not business. Making a greater tax burden for most breeders.
