The story is absolutely true. 10k to 12k in each of 8 hubcaps on a truck and trailer. It was picked up on an x=ray by Canadian authorities as "a dark mass"  They prolly assumed it was drugs. Even the NYT picked up the story with a photograph of the impounded rig sitting off to the side.

Did the Canadian government keep that 'better' American $$$$?  Asking for a friend!
