WITH PETROL PRICES HOVERING NEAR $4.00 AND $5.00 JUST OVER THE HORIZON AND TRACKS NO LONGER HAVING ANYTHING BUT SHIP IN BARNS.

IF TRACKS WANT US TO TRAVEL HUNDREDS OF MILES TO PUT ON THE SHOW, IT IS TIME THEY PAY US A STIPEND TO COVER THE DIESEL IT TAKES TO PULL THESE BIG TRAILERS. MAYBE EVEN A FOOD GIFT CERTIFICATE TO HELP US COVER EVER INCREASING EXPENSES..  THIS INFLATION AINT CHEAP

Horse racing is optional.  If you don't want to travel with high gas prices, everywhere is hiring.  Lots of people have lengthy commutes to work.   Don't like it, get a job closer to home.  This is the most ridiculous post in a while, and that's saying something.  Clearly just to draw posts, no one could actually believe this!

There's not a darned thing wrong with the message of this post!  Joey B. and his posse are pushing that Build Back Broke idea w/ handouts for anybody and everybody.  The liason for horsemen to address the state oughta be the State Racing Commission.  Rather than sharing recommendations of the plopper, {where a lot of the commentators aren't even involved in the industry} ;and, instead e-mail the State Commissioner and demand relief.

inflation is real and it is not "transitory" ( eg, meaning less than 6 months )
so clearly it will cost more to train and race horses in 2022
but purses especially overnights  do not currently reflect that , no increases
sales results certainly did not reflect that with all time high prices paid
but the reality is that those owners racing overnights will struggle
those that paid the high prices for the blue blooded yearlings will not notice

I know this may come as a shock to the Horseplop nation, but I agree with the subject title. States SHOULD help the whoresmen out ..... onto the streets. Take away the handouts these socialist, welfare recipient scumbags have been given, for no good reason, and use that money for HUMAN BEINGS. Start the decoupling avalanche, and let these whoresmen race for the revenue they generate.

Listen, for a half century - govt. has sudsidized farmers.  Often paying them NOT to plant and work their land,
So, why not prop up another branch of agriculture via the equine industry?  AND!!! it's not tax $$$ handing out the govt. welfare, instead the financing is delivered via an infintesimal breakage from the casinos.  How is that small tithe a bad thing?  It finances a whole lot of folk working with and around the horses - plus, vets, feed mills, not to mention the cottage industries that sell decorative horse gear.

There's not a darned thing wrong w/ one industry helping another.

you wanna bitch about government handouts.  Tee it up on the deadbeats that refuse to work at all and believe themselves to be entitled.

Subsidizing farmers to protect the country's food supply is in no way comparable to subsidizing harness racing

the world is starting.  There's an insatiable demand for FOOD.  Yet the USA chooses to feed Russia and China.  The subsidies placing restrictions on meeting the demand is a control only of the supply, not the country's food supply.

The public has long since lost all interest in harness racing and collectively chooses to spend their entertainment dollars just about anywhere else.

The idea that the government should increase their nearly 100% subsidy of a product that people choose not to purchase is absurd.

Comparing the farmers receiving subsidies, to the inbred, scumbag, welfare recipient, socialist whoresmen, shows just how low your IQ really is. PEOPLE need farmers, PEOPLE need food. People do not need inbred scum, who for decades, have lied, cheated, and stolen their way to destroying their business. The "infinitesimal breakage", as you so incorrectly stated, is tens of millions of dollars annually, which could be used to help actual PEOPLE. The whoresmen, state regulatory agencies, AND the greedy track owners, all have a role in the demise of harness racing. Not one cent should be handed to these worthless, welfare loving socialists.

    Sincerely, Silent One

That is truly the most pathetic thing I ever heard. Why in the name of God should our tax dollars be given to a bunch of uneducated corrupt cheating losers. You chose to do what you do if you can't hack then go get a real job. Although you're a bunch of illiterates it would be hard but even though you're under-qualified Mickey D's might take a chance.Or maybe a towel boy at a gay bath house you would fit right in.
