When are purses going to increase?
« on: May 12, 2021, 07:36:58 AM »
Handle is way up, even 15-20 percent per race, regardless of corona data skew.  Horsemen should be getting more money!

Fuck the whoresmwn! They deserve NOTHING. The only thing most whoresmen should be getting are prison sentences. Cut purses, and put the money into the pools, for the customers.

so which way is it
I hear the horseman deserve nothing and they are on charity handouts from governments and casinos because nobody bets on this shit
now the handles  are up significantly so somebody is betting on this shit but they don't deserve more money for the product they provide that people bet on
and I do agree handles need to be reduced at some tracks but that is easy to fix , stop betting those tracks with high takeout and they will have to adjust
I assume none of you actually own any race horses and are aware of the rising costs over the last number of years while purses declined

Oh, you mean the welfare tracks where handle already doesn't support 1/2 of the purses paid which you are sobbing are too low?

Those tracks?

exactly calhoun
as a bettor you can pick your spots based on takeout
those   welfare tracks will carry on regardless of handle to maintain their slots agreement
but tracks with higher handles should reflect that in purses

Handle does not tell the story. It is the breakdown of where those dollars come from. On-track dollars account for about 8%, but ADW, depending on the state, accounts for practically nothing. Blended handle can be considered to be 4.5-5% towards purses. Casinos and VLTs pay the rest.

Purses can up if we first knock them down to "handle" levels, eliminating all the subsidies.

I'm really tired of stimulus/welfare/handouts and people expecting something for nothing.

well it is not really something for nothing
the casinos were allowed onto the racetrack grounds to make massive profits
in return they give a very small amount of those profits to horse racing
times change, it is not the 1980's although i wish it was

I too wish it were the 80's, and I understand what you are saying

Initially they were "allowed" in, but I would venture it was only a matter of time before gambling was coming, with or without the consent of horse racing.

free programs - too hi of a handle - horsemen getting too much.

Here's the solution. <>  Take the overage and mail a check to the primary Plop contributors [me incl., of course] for keeping the real news and decent editorials on the sport avail to the public

Finally a person with a functioning brain. However, I do think the blended handle is more like 3.5-4%. Attendance is at an all time low, and the vast majority is wagered online. Just so all the whoresmen with their Jethro Bodine edjukashuns can understand, I will do some simple math. IF the Pig M were to handle 4 million Saturday, 4% would give them $160,000 in revenue. That would be split between the track and the purse account, which means, for the inbred whoresmen, $80,000 for the purse account. This Saturday's purses total $471,625, which would mean the purse account LOSES $391,625. If you were to remove the 3 big races, the purses would total $230,375, meaning a loss of over $150,000. If it wasn't for welfare, the liberal, cocksucking whoresmen would be racing for an average about $6,500 per race at the Pig M for a twelve race card. With brain dead inbreds crying about getting more handouts, is it any wonder why harness racing is considered the cesspool of sports.
