Are The Great Drivers More Talented or Just Have A Higher IQ?

I'm working on Thursday's Woodbine, Dover and Hoosier while watching tonight's crap.

There are plenty of numbnuts who give Smolin and the rest of the pathetic Hawthorne driver colony a run for their money in the idiot category.

Some of these clowns that leave with a 30-1 end up getting a good spot 2nd or 3rd on the rail.

But they can't sit for a good trip they then pull 1st over and end up dead backing up the 2nd tier.

Why can't inbreds overcome their defective genes and learn from their mistakes?

I'm not convinced that your Campbells, Millers, Dunns, Tetricks etc...are really more talented.

I think they are just a hell of a lot more smarter than your average hillbilly driver.

Understanding how to maximize your horse's ability seems like an obvious homework assignment.

The top drivers appear to do that homework and then game plan for that horse.

Is that really raw talent or is it more of an indication of a higher IQ?

Average harness driver IQ somewhere between 80-90, slightly above retarded.  Best drivers are definitely smarter, plus hands are somewhat better.  It takes a combination of talent and intelligence to be in the top tier.  Some top drivers, Filion, Case were heavier with talent than intelligence.  Others like Campbell, Pierce, O’Donnell heavier with brains than talent.

Wow that was seriously the dumbest thing i have ever read having cambell terrick and dunn just smarter then the hawthorne driving colony? As for Billy O and JC:
JC actually has some brains. Not just smart for the "off the farm" crowd.
Sat and talked to him many times at NJ Devils games at the Meadowlands Arena. Decent guy to talk to.
I sold some bonds to Billy O about 20 years ago.
Went to his house and sold him.
The conversation was NOT scintillating, to say the least.

I was referring to racing IQ.

Like knowing what you have and having an idea about who is the horse to beat.

Then game planning how to beat that horse and end up winning the race.

Too many of these clowns clearly have no fucking clue and insist on displaying their lack of racing IQ as soon as the gate opens.

Like getting hung with a 99-1 shot.

Pulling a gapping horse and going backwards.

Getting hung 4 wide to the 1/4!

Getting hung from the 2 hole.

Just plain stupid shit the good drivers never do.
