2020 Stakes Season

If they get wiped out this year, will they double the purses next year for three year olds, or finally do 3/4 year old stakes races?

Way to soon to start talking about that, especially with the state SS. They start too early now. Start them in August and they would be over before Oct.   some choices would have to be made between SS and Grand Circuit but so be it.  If they go cancelling stake races the yearling sales will crash.

lot of the sires program and big stake program is funded by casino's

which are shut down. No Ding Ding Ding will result in less money turned over to racing.

NOT TO EARLY, THERE IS NO CHANCE OF IT THIS YEAR.   THIS VIRUS HASNT EVEN POPPED THE PLUGS YET AND IS RUNNING ON EPO.   WOULD WIN IF THEY WENT AROUND AGAIN.

if they do not run them in 2020, would certainly like to see them just renamed and run as 4 yr olds,  so in 2021 you would have stakes  for 2 , 3, 4 yr olds specifically in addition to the aged stakes

Most stakes will likely race. Conflict between grand circuit and local sire stakes very likely now due to diminishing days to race. Not sure why Cal Expo the only track racing. Races can be conducted with minimal risk by limiting personnel and using multiple barns to race out of. No public. No owners. Only grooms, drivers, trainers and race officials. Would keep people and businesses employed as well as owners solvent.  Captive audience with simulcasting due to limited racing opportunities to wager on.  If you have horseman and horses stabled on grounds and training, then you can have racing.  No reason to further economically decimate this industry and those that rely on it for a living.
