Oxford built a track, nothing else. It was all about a Casino. A new Southern Maine 5/8ths, clubhouse/grandstand, paddock, hotel,etc... Is a major investment that says ln it for the long run. Scarborough has faught tooth & nail to keep what theyve got. Ask yourself why. It's simple, cry poverty while making money. New blood, New money, New ideas... lt's coming to Maine.

great points. horse racing and boxing were kings in the 50's. things are different now. i still chose horses all the time. we have a small chance to survive bur its getting smaller every day. agree with big dom. terry family is making money while doing nothing for racing.

the only thing sports betting will do is bring some people to the track to bet sports. the actual money that will flow down to purses ectra is little. ri in the first month handled 30+ million and the take for everyone to split was a little over 1 million. maine, in the winter wont come close handlewise. so yes it will help but nothing like slot machines. i hope that something good will happen. things will get tied up in courts so lets just hope.

Business plan was in motion LONG before sports betting came to Augusta. Sports betting will be in every OTB, Casino and Elks Lodge. Wouldnt it be alot wiser to open or buy an existing OTB to acquire sports betting, than to spend millions on land, permits and massive infrastructure? I know this news is disappointing to the sports Doomsdayers, but it's happening.

broken promises shawn scott, oxford. all comes down to the gaming comission, harness commision state in general needs to put their foot down. i have said before about oxford and how were they ever allowed to drop the big long 4 day meet. oxford should have been required to race an extended meet to have the casino. june is right just get the thing past and sell out. if the terry family had any brains then scarborough would have wined and dine ed and taken care of the local folks. run a nice facility and by now it would have had a casino. right off the highway. 90 miles from boston. done right and we would have had a strong industry for years to come. full circle the comission should have stepped in years ago. funny too, to think the terry family was greedy for every easy dollar. that place could have ended up worth hundreds of millions.

So we've gone from "Wont be built" , to it" will be built just to be sold off". Im confused. And another year or two of a GUARANTEED demolition is better than a NEW facility that will just later be sold... lt's like saying l'm driving to Boston in my 1973 Buick, with a 1/4 tank of gas and the Check Engine light on ON. And your neighbor offers to loan you his 2019 Ford with a Full tank. . And you say, Screw That l won't drive a Ford.

Yes absolutely I'll stick with what I got because I'd be wondering why would you let me drive that new truck when he sees what I drive now ! I would be suspicious of his motives or their motives get it LOL
