Since this new establishment will be located in the "lovely" Pompano Beach, do they know they will not be allowed to have any more plastic straws?  73za.ot

horses use straws?

I beg yout pardon, I lost 3 dollars.
harness racing is doomed, blame it on cheaters and juicers where the blame belongs, not management
You are a pompous ass wipe who knows nothing about the situation! Get your head out of your ass hole and learn the facts before you go shooting your big mouth off!

YES SIR !
HOW DARE I HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION THAN YOU, THE ALMIGHTY ONE.

EVEN WITH MY HEAD UP MY ASS ITS NOT HARD TO SEE THE OBVIOUS STIFFING AND JUICING.

MAYBE MANAGEMENT SUCKS BUT IF YOU ASK THE AVERAGE GAMBLER WHY THEY ABANDONED HARNESS RACING, STIFFING AND JUICING ARE HIGH ON THE LIST.

THE MASTER SEEMS TO HAVE A VIEW ALONG THE LINES OF POMPANO WAS NIRVANA FOR THE HORSEMEN SO IT SHOULD HAVE CONTINUED IF THAT EVIL MANAGEMENT DIDNT MESS IT UP.

REALITY- ASSES IN THE SEATS AND CASH IN THE POOLS IS WHAT COUNTS, WITHOUT THAT ANY GAME IS DOOMED.
WOULD YOU PLAY BLACKJACK IF YOU THOUGHT THE DEALER WAS CHEATING? OF COURSE NOT.
THE HARNESS GAME IS DOOMED BECAUSE GAMBLERS PERCEIVE IT TO BE CROOKED AND WILL GAMBLE ON SOMETHING THAT SEEMS FAIR.
THERE IS NO HOPE TO GET THE ASSES BAXK IN THE SEATS OR THE MONEY IN THE POOLS SO LET THE WRECKING BALL SWING.

You are wrong.

Harness racing is dead because takeout is too high.  If takeout was 8-10%, gamblers would show up.

Look at the mandatory payout days.  There is your proof.

You are wrong.  Again.

ONCE AGAIN YOU ARE TALKING FROM YOUR POSTERIOR PORT.
NOBODY IS INTERESTED IN RISKING THEIR MONEY ON A GAME THAT IS PERCEIVED TO BE CROOKED EVEN IF THE TAKEOUT IS ZERO.

That's why Pompano just set a record handle off of one race.

Please just stop posting.

You are far too old to make any sense.

You old dotard.

it must be wonderful to be inside your head with all the rainbows and unicorns and such.

record? I am old enough to remember packed harness tracks, rr, yr, monti.
rr- gone
monti- 10-25 people attend, soon to close by all signs
yr- ghost town

you cant bury your head like an ostrich and pluck a single statistic out and say the game is healthy.

fact is in the eyes of the average gambler harness racing is the new 3 card monty

I remember a few nights at Roosevelt while waiting for John Chapman to bring the horse back for a picture and looking up into the stands it was amazing how full the place was and it was packed at Pompano when the Breeders Crown first started out and we would head down for the races and some golf. Let's face it the tracks are empty because it's all about the money and who is going to get it because of internet betting and tracks like Pompano are empty because of the fixing, same with Freehold or Monti.

I remember RR very well. I used to like the 3rd floor. in the cold weather they had the outdoor behind the glass area. I always was on the 3rd floor. used the escalators to get up there.

I remember one night in the 80's my friend and I turned the corner after getting off on the second floor landing and instead of seeing the next escalator to the 3rd floor it was walled off with plywood.
beginning of the end.

I used to take exit m3 or m2 from the meadowbrook. the lights were the first thing you saw when you came up the exit ramp. sometimes it was so crowded I used to have to park by fortunoffs.

I said it on another thread, tracks aren't owned by people any more the are owned by corporations, mostly casinos and they don't want racing. We cost them money, between the states and the casinos sooner rather than later they will take more money away from horseman. Look at the Meadows, the horseman had to buy the statue of Adios back after the land was sold by the last group of profiteers. It's all corporate greed. Tracks other than the Big M don't really do any promotions or advertising for racing, if you take the slot money away we will be racing ultra short meets for crap money. We also have no integrity or class look at the show we put on, not really classy anymore. The days of Greenwood, RR and packed crowds are all done get used to it.
