Lets put this topic to rest
« on: January 13, 2019, 11:06:50 AM »
I have wrote many articles on hot lunches, hot tests, integrity and so on. Also on Mr Campbell. Mr Campbell drove for some of the best hot lunch trainers in the business, Daley, Pelling, Robinson, Gelrod to name just a FEW. This is undisputed fact. So when the Hambo Society looked for new direction and a boost in ratings, did you really believe Mr Campbell was going to provide that boost or be the difference maker. The answer is NO NO NO. Did you really believe Mr Gural was going to be the difference maker. NO NO and NO. Its all posturing folks. These articles that the Guru rights, do you really think he is on the up and up, NO NO and NO. He is a story teller and makes you feel something is being done. It isn't  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp

If any race commission was sincere in "their so called integrity efforts" their first visit would be to sit down with the Attorney General or Lead Prosecutor  in every state and make significant fines and penalties which would include jail time for Class 1 and 2 positives. But that would be bad press some say, no that would be a significant step in the right direction. IF race track managers and owners were sincere in bringing CLEAN racing to the forefront they would do something, but they don't. It will NEVER be perfect, however there is a tremendous amount room for improvement.

As I said before and will again, when the Ledford case was investigated by NJ and Christine D'Elia (Prosecutor in the Ledford case) this was the case to make significant progress to clean up racing. The envelopes worked. The 2nd case was the Glaucine positives that Burke and Miller bought their way out of. So when you read some articles on HRU about integrity, just remember, its all posturing by Gooooofffrrrraaaa lllll, the Guru, and all the others that sell YOU a line of bullshit. And that is exactly what it is, BULLSHIT.  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp

Now look at PA and their house of corruption. They implemented a group to oversee what the race commissions were doing couple years back. And who made up this group, ex judges, owners, trainers, vets etc. To do what. Not a fucking thing other than to look the other way and keep the business alive. If you don't think judges in PA own horses, you are very, very foolish.

Then we get to the Goerge Nap article. George states, "I cheated when I drove, I cheated when I trained, I used every possible PED to win and CHEAT the public", not a fews time, but for a long time. And then came Jesus and he was saved. If you don't think George still plays, you are very foolish.

So when you read these HRU articles, don't smile and say, "finally progress". Cry because all you are getting is another LIE, plain and simple.  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp

And now we thrown in the Rick and Scotty Zeron, Atlanta story. What a fucking joke.  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp

Anyone who thinks this shit will ever end is dreaming. The entire industry from to to bottom is corrupt. Even in the greatest days of popularity, harness racing was a rigged game. Rigged by the track owners is doing whatever it took to protect their business. By drivers and trainers at bottom line tracks, in an effort to earn a living at what was nothing more profitable as stamp collecting.
I would encourage people to read Larry Rolla's book; Against All Odds. Entertaining and accurate. Most of the race fixing he speaks of, I recall. Some is spotty to me but, I do remember most of it. There was a period of time, almost every 9th race Trifecta at Monticello was rigged. Yet, millions are spent trying to catch the guy with a lasix overage.
Anyone whom bets a dime on this game is a fool.

Tough to disagree with any of what Hush wrote.
One can only hope things get better.
I’m not hopeful.

There should be a disclaimer written in the official program at each track that states.... "Harness Racing is not a sport and is for entertainment purposes only. Gambling is encouraged but not protected. Outcomes of races are predetermined through collusion as well as performance enhancing drugs. Wager accordingly".
i believe this to be true

“Where there is money to be made there will always be someone cheating.” That statement is 100% iron clad until the end of time no matter what sport or situation you are in.

Now the next BIG lie. If states lose racing how many jobs go away. And we hear 80,000 in this state, 125,000 in that state. If its saving the jobs, then DO SOMETHING about it  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp

Never thought I would agree with HUSH-but he has finally written something we can sink our teeth into.

"The late 1960's and early 70's a policy of "permissive medication" banned elsewhere in the world was adopted in North America.

Wherein the measure was intended to legally regulate the limits of drug administration for therapeutic use, instead it has created a culture of clandestine alchemists who scheme to gain advantage at any expense. "

How do we turn this around? There are 2 that MUST be administered and fast.

FIRST SUGGESTION--JAIL TIME FOR A CLASS 1.    This HAS to be implemented because they include drugs like Heroin and Amphetamines ,Elephant Juice etc If you are caught with this in your possession-you go to Jail. So it stands to reason that if its in a horse you train was caught with a performance enhancing level of a Class 1-YOU GO TO JAIL -dont pass go-straight to jail and automatically get a LIFETIME BAN FROM RACING.

SECOND SUGGESTION--OUT OF COMPETITION DRUG TESTING EXPANDED SO THAT EVERYONE GETS TESTED MANY TIMES DURING THE RACING SEASON. ONLY TEST FOR CLASS 1 AND 2-BECAUSE THE REST WE CAN ALL LIVE WITH.=THERAPEUTIC MEDICATIONS. ENFORCE THE REGULATIONS-SO THAT THE TESTERS KNOW WHERE YOUR HORSE IS AT ALL TIMES.

Bond, all sensible and doable solutions. The missing components are, desire from the track owner and teeth from the state. Going forward, I don't see this issue getting investment. With sports betting and internet gambling becoming law in many states, horse racing is on the bottom end of the revenue producers. To the state, it is all about production. So, with sports betting band online gaming the new wave, it will create new markets as well as canabilize casino markets. There is where the states will focus on protecting revenues. Horse racing will continue to be left policing itself.
The crap that went down in Pa. was no mistake. It was a calculated strategy. The same for the many no testing days in NY. There is no desire from the states now to protect the "integrity" of racing, let alone when sports betting and online gaming comes to play.

One of the best posts by Hush in years.  Reminds me of when he used to post about such integrity issues on Junior's Northfield board years back, of which handle he was using back then I have since forgotten.
