Whatever happened to Bobby Matte ?

Some type of big bettor and affiliation with Harness racing at the Meadows. He supposedly had some kind of satellite box at his house in Massachusetts that gave him the live feed from the tracks and call in $100-$200 exacta bets. Was this guy for real?
