Is there hope beyond 2020? Will a new track become reality?

I've been wondering about this too. I've not heard or read anything yet. If they're really going to build one, I'd assume they'd want to start construction in the near future. I don't even think they have a location picked out yet, though ideas and rumors abound.

I noticed a vacant parcel of land not for from Camarica Park on a trip to see the Jays play and thought what a great place to build a new harness facility.......gr eat spot not far from other sports venues and lots of interstate access from all directions.....I Know Im dreaming but I just wish it could come back to the Metro area.......growin g up in Toronto and attending Greenwood all through my teens I loved when the Detroit horseman and their best would ship in to try our top classes....like the good Armbro or Wilcos Cadet horse(cant remember) and Sense of Purpose and John Moody also Night Court Dan and Supergrit.....gre at times 11.wp
Come with me to the "Darkside",its a matter of life or death!!

One place I've seen mentioned a few times is the empty lot where the old ford plant used to be in Novi/Wixom.

Please stop it. There are no horses, few horse people, casino interest that will use delay tactics for years, no hope of slots, incompetent uncaring politicians and no viable track owner. It’s over, deal with it.

Supervisor says Northville Downs not moving to former psych hospital site,The sound of horseshoes galloping toward the finish line won't be heard any time soon near Seven Mile Road in Northville Township, at least as far as supervisor Bob Nix knows.

With the speed of Secretariat, a rumor has been circulating around the township suggesting that Northville Downs will be relocating its operation to the site of the former state psychiatric hospital, which is currently in a demolition holding pattern.

A briskly-scheduled board of trustees study session last week added fuel to the rumor's fire, Nix said he hoped he quickly extinguished.

"There is nothing — nothing! — to this," emphasized Nix, when asked about the Northville Downs-to-Northville Township rumor. "First of all, no one has presented us with any plans related to this and, secondly, that property is not zoned for a race track.

"The property on Seven Mile where the hospital stands will be used for recreation purposes for township residents once the demolition and clean-up is complete. There is absolutely no basis for this rumor mill."Hometownlife.com Published 3:16 p.m. ET July 2, 2018
